Paintout at Christine Drewyer's in Annapolis, June 24, 2018

Clouds were in competition with bright, high summer sun, but there was much blue sky and only moderate humidity. A few early cicadas began to sizzle from the trees. Many painters chose subjects in Christine’s lush green yard: the moss-covered carriage house, a weeping copper beech, statuary, and abundant flowers. Others went farther afield. Annapolis is filled with small parks and tiny inlets that beg to be painted, and it is hard to find a view without a few sailboat masts poking through somewhere. Its Main Street and side streets also offer many visual delights. This brought several compositions including boats and buildings to the critique.
Lunch was provided by Christine, and the feast included Reuben sandwiches, slaw, potato salad, devilled eggs, and ice tea.
In attendance were: Barbara Nuss, Mary Kokoski, Lani Browning, Mike McSorley, Bob Thoren, Jack Pardue, Meg Walsh, Bill Schmidt (with wife Dottie), Lisa Mitchell, Nancy Peach (guest), James Vissari (guest), and, of course, the generous host Christine.
