WSLP Paint Out - Nov 7, 2025. - Kuerner’s Farm, PA
On Friday, Nov 7, 2025, members of the WSLP gathered to paint at Kuerner’s Farm in Chadds Ford, PA. The Kuerner Farm was a major source of inspiration to Andrew Wyeth for more than 70 years. Wyeth painted its people, animals, buildings and landscapes for nearly 1,000 works of art including Wolf Moon ,Groundhog Day and Spring Fed to name a few.
Carol Cowie reflects, “Being at the farm for me was beyond amazing. I've seen and loved so many Wyeth paintings from this spectacular area, I was most curious about the terrain from looking at his work here. And in fact, there it all was — steep hills, windy paths and tree silhouettes.”
The weather was windy and sunny. Mary Pritchard’s easel toppled but didn’t stop her from completing two paintings. “I did two paintings of the same location. The first took about an hour and the second about 20 minutes and I like it better because it has a looser quality to it. I painted it after the wind blew my easel over and I had to pick pastels out of the grass. In the first painting the tree has a spider-like feeling that dominates the barn.”
Catherine Hillis made a long drive to experience Kuerners. "It was a bit of a drive for me from Central Virginia to arrive at the Kuerner Farm in Chadds Ford, PA. Once I arrived, though, those thoughts melted away and I felt the honor of being there in the middle of history. Loo]through the same windows that Wyeth did and painting the same shapes; it's just memorable.”
Meg Walsh and Jacalyn Beam also painted at Kuerners. Bethanne Cople brought two painters as guests -Katie Flack and Laura Bollettino.
