Participants were Lisa Mitchell (oil painting of Market Cafe) and Mary Kokoski (watercolor, Patapsco River view). It was a calm and relatively cool morning, but the blue skies were blotted out by a thick smoky haze from the unprecedented wildfires burning in Canada. Instead of bright sun there was a gauzy flatness to the light. Visitors to Old Ellicott City, however, seemed undeterred, and the shops and restaurants were busy.
