Cylburn Arboretum (Baltimore, MD)

Attending: David Diaz, Mary Kokoski, Carol McClees, Abigail McBride (guest), Alison Barry (guest).

It was what the Irish define as a "soft day", with thick overcast and rolling waves of gentle mist. Although a bit damp, it was the perfect atmosphere for mixing grays and playing these subtle hues against the vibrant greens of the grass. Brilliant flower blooms, particularly the yellow dahlias, were a challenge as they seemed to glow with their own light in the absence of sun. Lunch and a critique were held in the Vollmer Center, under the impassive gaze of a barred owl and faded red fox (both stuffed and therefore withholding their artistic opinions).
