November 26th Paint Out Pierce Mill

November paint out, 2023

At Peirce Mill Park Washington DC

A grey chilly day for the 6 of us who showed up this November 26th. The works reflect the flat low light. A close look at Marietje Chamberlains second painting shows the rain drops that plagued the day. The first  painting was started the day before. Ray Burns finished a painting he had started years before, then tried to start another. Our snow bird from Florida, Sarita Moffat thought she had dressed for early winter, but found she had not. Still the blue rubber boots worked well in the mud. Vicki Blum showed up to paint with us. Hope she doesn’t think the WSLP paint outs are always this grey

In Attendance: Lida Stifel, Web Bryant, Marietje Chamberlain, Ray Burns, Sarita Moffat and guest Vicki Blum

Harpers Ferry Paint Out, Oct 29th

In attendance:

Members- Ted Reed, Pattee Hipschen and Web Bryant

Guests-Vicki Blum, Amy Waldrop and Leanne Fink

Sunday morning in Harpers Ferry was bustling before nine o'clock despite the rain. Hikers, sightseers and creatives with camera and brush were out and about. There were many covered porches and other nooks under which to set about painting. The rivers and cliffs were at times shrouded in atmosphere. It was a delight to take in the variety of subject matter.

Ted, Vicki and Amy enjoyed lunch in town at Kelly Farm Kitchen after painting and had fun  talking about all things Art and beyond.

Meg Walsh's House Paint Out

Mid-Week Paintout Monday, October 23, 2023

Meg Walsh’s house, Easton, MD

Attended: Jill Basham, Bethanne Cople, Bernie Dellario, Hai-ou Hou, Meg Walsh

After a week of warm sunny days, Monday morning arrived with a very stiff breeze and cold temperatures. To get out of the wind, Bernie painted the fields along Waverly Island Road, Hai-ou took shelter behind her car, and Jill braved the elements along the Tred Avon shoreline. Bethanne found a sheltered spot in the sun. Meg tried to paint the backlit dogwoods in her driveway and ended up scraping it. Afterward we warmed up inside with a bowl of turkey chili.

A beautiful autumn day, crisp and bright with a very blue sky, and a few clouds making great patterns of light on the land.   The farm was full of autumn color in the fields and trees and horses were all around.  We had a short critique/ showing of the work and finished by about 12:30.
