October Paint out at Christine Drewyer's house

The Luncheon of the Painting Party

It was a picture postcard perfect October day with blue skies, warm sun, and the gentle clatter of a few falling leaves, although much of the landscape was still green. Instead of postcards, the WSLP painters celebrated the beautiful day by creating original art. Some painted in the town of Annapolis, in Eastport, and Jones Park, capturing the water, sailboats, and historic buildings. Others worked closer to Christine’s and the tantalizing aroma of baking lasagna. This paintout, which has become an annual ritual, was special not only for the artistic experience but for the lavish lunch created by Christine and enjoyed by all. Lasagna, garlic bread, Brussels sprouts, Caesar salad, rum punch, wine, cheesecake and apple cherry cobbler composed a feast accompanied by conversation about trips to Italy, other painting adventures, and Leonard da Vinci. After lunch the critique was held in Christine’s studio.

Members attending included: Brenda Kidera, Barry Lindley, Barbara Nuss, Mary Kokoski, JoEllen Murphy, John Bellinger, Lani Browning, Sara Poly, and, of course the host, Christine Drewyer.

Guests included: Danika Brown (Christine’s granddaughter), Nancy Peach, Judi MacDonald, Ruth Randall, Andree Tullier, and Nancy McCarra.
