August 31st Paint Out, Sky Meadows
Sky Meadows State Park, a stunning 1,860-acre expanse in Delaplane, Virginia, set the stage for our August 2025 plein air painting event. With sweeping views of open meadows and the Blue Ridge Mountains rising on the horizon, the landscape offered an idyllic backdrop for a morning of outdoor painting. The skies were sunny, the air was crisp, and the temperatures held steady in the 70s—an ideal day for painting en plein air. Inspiration was found in the iconic barns with their gleaming red roofs, as well as the vibrant trees and end-of-summer blooms. We concluded the day with a group critique at the 19th-century Mount Bleak House located in the middle of the park. In attendance were members: Kim Hall, Catherine Hillis, Pattee Hipschen, Lynn Mehta and Lisa Mitchell. Guests included: Lynn Lewis and Josie Vosoba.
