Having been cancelled twice before due to rain we didn’t let the overcast day keep us from finally gathering to paint at Washington National Cathedral. Five members, Jacalyn Beam, Hiu Lai Chong, Lida Stifel, Bob Thoren and Jean Schwartz attended the morning paint out. We all opted to set up in the beautiful Bishop’s Garden. Both the rose garden and perrenial border which were in beautiful bloom and Shadow House ( the small octagonal building in the garden) as well as the majestic cathedral were wonderful subjects. The cloudy, mild day was an asset as we didn’t have to deal with changing light and the overcast really made the garden colors standout. Even more than the painting I think what we most enjoyed was gathering together again and we discussed other locations to paint midweek later this fall.
