July Paint Out in Baltimore

Cylburn Arboretum & Mansion July 28, 2019

On a day that can only be described as idyllic summer perfection, 4 WSLP’ers ventured to Cylburn Arboretum and Mansions in Baltimore, Maryland for a paint out. The grounds of this historic property are nothing short of spectacular, with ancient gingko trees which are original to the property when the Tyson ‘s a prominent Quaker family owned it. The family discovered Chrome & copper on the property and built this impressive estate at the height of their careers. Chrome is used in making paints (a nice coincidence is that it is in many of the paints used in these paintings today, like my oxide of chromium green paint! The day was filled with the usual - families and cyclists and dogs and a very friendly squirrel who kept Christine Drewyer company for the bulk of the day. The grounds are filled with glorious gardens, magnificent trees and secluded areas with burbling fountains and stone benches for pondering the beauty.

In Attendance were; Christine Drewyer, Mary Kokoski, Andrei Kushnir, and guest Mike McSorley, sponsored by JoEllen Murphy
