Banquet at the Arts Club of Washington, DC - March 24, 2019

The banquet was held at the Arts Club of Washington, DC on Sunday, March 24th.

Tracey Norvell, who reps for Fine Art Connoisseur and Plein Air Magazine, spoke on "The Magic of Storytelling and Matchmaking in the Art World," giving us much food for thought -- as well as, some fun hats!

We honored Bill Schmidt for the incredible achievement of 50 years in the WSLP!

President, Bernie Dellario, shared recollections of Bill from the membership, many of which centered on Bill's quirky painting attire and his wry wit. Bernie presented Bill with a rolling backpack for his painting gear. Bill then regaled us with anecdotes from his 50 years in the club.

We had an excellent meal and a great time socializing --

February Paint Out in Chestertown, MD

Chestertown Maryland, Fountain Park
February 24,2019

It was pouring down rain Sunday morning with weather alerts for high winds at 40-50 mph, but a comfortable temperature in the high 40’s.

The rain stopped mid morning and since i live only 20 minutes from Chestertown, I packed up my paints and thought I’d drive up to see who was at the paintout.

I didn’t see anyone from WSLP when I parked near fountain park, our meeting location for lunch and a critique, and began a painting of the fountain. Colors were rich from the morning rain and I was surrounded by the good Episcopalians of Chestertown as they attended morning services at the church next to the park.

I stayed until 1 pm, never seeing anyone from WSLP. It was a delightful morning painting with no rain or wind, and the sun began to break out as I began the drive home.
