  Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary
1361 Wrighton Road
Lothian, MD 20711

September 25, 2011
(Report and Photos by Hiu Lai Chong)

What a fun paintout day! Despite the heavy morning rain, hungry mosquitos, random nuts/seeds falling...we had a great time painting at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.

Most artists were inspired by the marsh view from the first observation deck. Twelve artists (Edward Cooper, Bernard Dellario, Betty Huang, Brenda Will Kidera, Barbara Nuss, Sara Linda Poly, Jack Pardue, Meg Walsh, Richard Whiteley, Will William, Raymond Burns, Web Bryant ) painted together on the same deck! I wonder if that breaks a WSLP record. Everyone had their own way of approaching the scene; it was neat to see twelve different styles. Nancy Wallace, Kenneth Petrie, Lisa Mitchell painted the wooded area near the entrance. JoEllen Murphy painted a birdhouse, and Will William and Christine Drewyer painted by the water.

The critique was constructive and inspiring. Some decided to stay for the afternoon. Barbara and Brenda started a second painting by the meadow. Bernie, Meg and I continued to paint on the deck. On the way out, Brenda, Barbara Sara and Betty found some tiny tree frogs by the yellow wildflowers near the entrance. Amazing to see this tiny habitat up close.

Members attending were Hiu Lai Chong, Edward Cooper, Bernard Dellario, Christine Drewyer, Brenda Will Kidera, Barbara Nuss, Kenneth Petrie, Sara Linda Poly, Jack Pardue, Nancy Wallace, Meg Walsh, Richard Whiteley, Will William. The guests were Raymond Burns, Web Bryant, Dick Drehmer, Betty Huang, Lisa Mitchell, JoEllen Murphy.
