  PLEIN AIR PAINTOUTS

  National Arboretum
Washington, DC

May 29, 2011
(Report and photos by Hiu Lai Chong)

It started out as a diffused-light day but the sun soon came out and it turned into a pretty hot day. I arrived around 9am and found Bernie painting in the National Herb Garden with beautiful blooming flowers. He was already off to a great start. Meg, Lisa and her husband Bruce, Jean, and Christine also set up nearby. Barbara painted a beautiful pond surrounded by flowers. I set up at the Bonsai & Penjing Museum. Mark did a big painting of a tree by the water. We had lunch and the critique at the table area by the charming Aquatic Garden. What a great day!

Members attending were Barbara Nuss, Gray Dodson, Meg Walsh, Bernard Dellario, Mary Kokoski, Mark Ingraham, Sarita Moffat, Andrei Kushnir, Yolanda Frederikse, and Fiona Pocock Corn. Guests attending were Web Bryant, Christine Drewyer, Lorrie Herman, Lisa Mitchell, Steve Moen, and Jean Schwartz.
