  PLEIN AIR PAINTOUTS

  Georgetown, Washington, DC
February 27, 2011
(Report and photos by Bruce Handford)

The weather was cool and overcast early on, but the sun came out mid-morning and gave us temperatures pushing the 60 degree mark. Al Marra, Leonard Justinian and guest Hai-Ou Hou chatted, sketched and painted on the canal path while others painted on or near the bridges. I set up on 31st Street to paint and it proved to be a spot where curious people wanted to talk. I enjoyed conversing with them and they left educated with facts on the WSLP. At noon artists straggled in to eat lunch in the park area on the canal and at 12:30 we conducted a critique.

Members attending were John Bellinger, Jean and Harry Brinton-Jaecks, Yolanda Frederikse, Mark Ingraham, Leonard Justinian, Christine Lashley, Al Marra, Richard Whiteley, and Bruce Handford. Guests attending were Jean Schwartz, Dick Drehmer and Hai-Ou Hou.
