I choose to paint landscapes in watercolor because this medium has the fluid qualities that capture quickly the texture and color changes and how sun and shadows bring out form.

Yolanda Frederikse received her B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston; a BFA in Art Education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana; and a MFA from The American University, Washington DC. She has taught on the college level for 22 years.

She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and has received the Travel Award from the American Watercolor Society. She is also a printmaker represented by the Washington Printmakers Gallery in Washington, DC.

Her paintings are represented in many collections including The Corcoran Gallery, National Institutes of Health, United Way of Alexandria, Georgetown University Hospital, University of Maryland, and the Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.

She paints watercolor landscapes on site and does printmaking in her studio in Kensington, MD.
