He favors the use of alkyd paints because of their stability but occasionally finishes up a work with oil paints. His landscape scenes are almost always painted on site. He brings an immense knowledge of painting and conservation technology to the Society.

He is Chief of Conservation Division of the Natinal Gallery of Art. He is represented by the South Street Gallery.
