I want to capture forever a location, a mood, and a contrast of light against shadow...the feeling and sense of place with brush stroke and palette knife.

Early on in life, Barbara Piegari knew that art was in her future. She attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City where she earned her B.F.A.

She taught art but soon found herself in the business of making puppets and marionettes and into producing puppet shows. Her fine reputation earned her many accolades and party engagements in and around the Washington DC area.

During Barbara's career as a landscape painter she has belonged to and been active in several art galleries and art organizations. Her current primary art connections are the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, the American Impressionist Society, and the Olney Art Association of MD.

She has been in hundreds of shows and won numerous awards in the Washington, DC and Maryland areas, including juried shows in the Maryland State House for two consecutive years. In addition she has had many one-person shows, usually one per year.

She teaches oil painting with a special focus on palette knife techniques.
